SKY's Thought for the DAY

I am very thankful to Christy from the Dallas flock for bringing forth a very important but often neglected subject. Death. None of us shall escape it so we, as bird owners need to take careful consideration into planning not only for our families but also our birds once we are gone.
Christy's " Spiral of Death" is such an appropriate title for this subject. No matter how much we love our birds, how well we care for them, the time may come when when can no longer care for them. Who will look after them? Where will they continue to live out their lives in a manner to which they are accustomed? Too many people have the false believe that "family" will take over for us. Often this is not the case. After the owners passing the birds lives are in an upheaval. No one may truly love or want the birds but fill, OBLIGATED, to take them into their home.
If the person to which the birds have been in trusted is NOT a bird lover conflict will no doubt soon follow.
The birds trying to adjust to their sudden loose are forced into a situation they have no control over. WE DO. As responsible owners we need to take the time and effort to make our final wishes known. NOT VERBALLY but in a written will. You should talk at length with those to whom the birds are going to live with. ARE they truly prepared for the responsibility?
Many birds become unwanted guests. It is vital that we take time and find homes for our charges that will be most similar to what they are familiar to. PLEASE go to visit a couple times to ensure that your precious birds will be well cared for.
Making provision for our birds is our last act of love and kindness when we can no longer care for them ourselves.
PLEASE take time to read Christy's blog on the Broken Wings & BROKEN PROMISES page.
with all my heart filled with love, SKY
