Good Afternoon, Bluebell and Flock Another quick vote & note from me today. Well BirdTALK arrived today, and Mom's ecstatic. Guess what's on the cover? COCKATIELS! Perfect, and just on time, since Mom's planning on getting a male White Face this fall (or winter, whenever she finds one really, just so long as it's well after Summer). So after today's blogging, I can be sure she'll be absorbed in that magazine! Mom and I have been spending a lot more time with each other lately, which of course I love. She has decided to try and get me used to different parts of the bathroom - like the windowsill, the bureau, things like that, hoping that eventually I'll be comfortable and will play on them. So Mom started the "training" yesterday, and I'm already doing fantastically. What she does is take the top of my cage off (if you look through my photo gallery, you'll be able to find at least one or two photos of me on the detached top of my cage), and calls me up onto it. Then she very slowly and calmly moves the top of my cage and myself over near the window (which is closed, and whenever it is open, it has a screen in it, so you don't need to worry about me escaping!). She has a plate of food up there for me to be interested in. Then she encourages me to take a bite of the food. As I get more and more comfortable with being near the window sill, she'll start encouraging me to climb onto it, to reach food. So today she was working on getting me used to the windowsill, but to her surprise, I showed a lot of interest in the bureau (which is only two feet away from the windowsill). She was surprised, because the bureau has all sorts of bottles, baskets, hairbrushes etc. on it that she would expect I would find frightening! I was leaning over towards looking at it, so she carried the top of the cage with myself on it nearer to the bureau, and I nibbled on the corner. Mom was so happy!! I really am a very good boy for Mom when she's training me :) Well this wasn't exactly a quick note, was it? LOL! I'm running out of room so I'll have to get going.. I hope that you and yours have a great day :) As always, don't forget to stop by and visit me soon :) Hugs! ... |
