AARRRR! HALT CARRIAGE!! HALT!
Aye Matey! The Weather Be Lookin'

good fer tellin' ye about some more pirating times! That lil' feller,
Julius Caesaur bein' a cantankerous sort! Best sail way around those types!

While piracy did perkulate & stew in the Mediterranean Sea where the strongest peoples battled & took over the lands, the pirates followed along sometimes even helping out the big mugs with transportin' their loot & slaves! Heeheehee! Yes sir! I'll be glad to help you with THAT! Garrrrr! There's one born every second, mateys! A pirate's job is to look for the opportunities & seize them when they rise! There's no time for being nice or passive & ye let your sword or knife do the talkin'!

As Rome's mighty fist reached out toward the Roman province of Britannia, Irish pirates captured & enslaved Saint Patrick....that be BEFORE he were a saint! He was but a lad of 16 & he weren't Irish but from Britain! They hauled him there where he was a slave for 6yrs. He escaped & went back to his home in Britain. His belief led him to become a Christian Priest & reasoned his time in Ireland was punishment for being so far away from God not only in his mind but also in his heart. He longed to journey to Gaul & then to Jeruselum itself, but he knew his God was sending him back to the place he escaped!! He did travel back but his own writings show he was an educated man now. He wrote in the language of his parents as well as Latin & was versed in both. St. Patrick stayed there educating & converting the local people to Christianity & he became a Bishop. The sayin' he drove all the snakes out of Ireland is more of symbolism that he drove paganism out of the country. The snake or serpent has always been a symbol of great evil to Christians everywhere. SamIAm's look about it is he drove them pirates out of Ireland! And we all know that they be sea snakes!

There ye have it fer the day. Pirates be all over the world shapin' lads fer good & some fer bad. Unless ye's a pirate...then both of these situations be bad fer ye if yer's the pirate. Thanky kindly fer yer vote. Aaarrrr....
