Wow- a tree fell on your mom's car last year? That is incredible! Did you guys hear the crash? That sure must have been scary! Well, they say the truck is fixed but the car has problems and it actually went into a different shop on the next day after the truck got tolled. But no, that didn't mean my parronts were home, they were out running around taking care of all the vehicle probs! Now both vehicles are home but the car needs to go to the city shop this week for a brake prob that the people out here couldn't fix! We had rain all week so we were stuck inside anyway. It was super boring!
Dad said a cat was in our yard last nite. That is good becos we seem to have a mouse problem. Before we had dogs, there was no mouse problem. Now that the dogs are gone, maybe the neighborhood cats will take care of the mouse probs! We used to have nightly cat fights though before dogs. Our neighbors in front have 6 cats and our neighbors next door have 3 dogs. So no one complains with our squawking! hehehe!
That is neat you have a Cookie Day tomorrow! I bet your mom loves having a 3 day weekend! Does she get Veteran's Day too? Our old school district finally gave in for Veteran's Day since they have a lot of teachers who are vets.
There is no Halloween celebrated here but each year there is more Halloween stuff in the stores and the private schools have Halloween parties in school. There is no trick or treating though. The Catholic Church always has articles in the paper about not allowing your kids to go to school on the day of a Halloween party becos it's evil. My mom thinks that Halloween is a cultural event and that her English students should learn about it. For several years she did a Halloween party for her students. Then last year she organized a bunch of gringos to have candy at their houses so she could bring the students trick and treating. Well, the kids LOVED it! All the kids and drivers dressed up and most of the houses they visited, the people handing out candy dressed up too. Some of the houses were decorated and had scary music and people jumped out from behind trees and fences and the kids screamed. Some people took pics of all the kids and then gave the pics to mom to give the kids. It was a lot of fun. She had about 36 kids in 6 cars going around to about 15 houses. She is working on setting it up again this year too. Ever since she started teaching English here, the kids all say they like Halloween the best! One year she had games and they did the egg toss in the street - the kids were amazed to be throwing perfectly good eggs at each other to be broken in the street. That's food!
Well, it's looking rainy again, a good afternoon to take a nap!
Have a great Columbus Day, whoever he was!
