Hello, this is SKY here to ask you " ARE YOU READY TO EXPLORE?"
I felt it only fitting to begin our journey into EVERYTHING BIRDS, by telling you a little bit about myself.
I was born west of Toronto, Ontario in an aviary run by a devoted and respectable breeder. At 5 months I was sold to a Pet Store in London, Ontario. It is from there that my story begins;
At 6 months old, I was sold to a man from London, Ontario who said "he had always wanted to own a Macaw." In the late fall of 2004, I was surrender to a Bird Rescue in the same area in which I was born.
The rest of my life history is based on facts discovered over the past 8 years. Sometime during the first few months with my first owner I reached my teens with all the attitude that is typical for us Macaws. I bit my owner, and I bit hard opening a wide gash in his arm. In his rage and anger he threw me against a wall. I fell to the floor screaming in pain. The trust was destroyed. I had broken my wing and both my legs. I never saw a VET.
Over the next months, the abuse escalated. Unable to stand, or climb I lived in unbelievable pain. After countless months, my first owner advertised me on-line and I was sold broken bones and all to a woman in Hamilton, Ontario. My stay was short, when, out of fear and in pain I bit through her forearm causing severe damage. It was my act of fear, that saved my life. This, my second owner unknown to her, saved my life.
Tomorrow, I shall share the rest of my life story, and tell you a little about the home I now share with many rescued birds, all with stories of their own.
