Hi Indiana SAM
Sky is here with today's blog. I like getting an early start. Thanks once more for your support.November 4th
This is SKY here, with the conclusion of my life's history. I have been very moved by the blogs I have received from birdies that have flown the same path as I did. My heart is with you, thankful that you were saved by a compassionate human, that has given you love, security and above all respect.
This past March my Momma Deb decided that she would have me re-x-rayed with the hope that I might be able to have a repair surgery done. Sadly, the results will never allow me to open or flap my wing or stand with a firm grip and walk. The Vet, Dr Yan was shocked at the severity of the abuse I had endured. The x-rays revealed;
left leg/foot had sustained 7-9 breaks
right leg/hip had been broken in 5 places
and my right wing had 8 clear breaks, and 2 fractures.
This knowledge was beyond anything my Momma Deb had thought. However, the most painful part was learning that both legs and wing were broken at one time BUT I had also had other breaks over a period of months. The Vet does not believe they were caused by the initial injuries. "How he ever survived is beyond me" Dr Yan, " he couldn't stand, climb and moving would have been agony. SKY has the heart of a true fighter."
It is this heart to over come that has motivated me to devote this November's BOTM campaign to exploring the world of birds, and the wonderful, caring humans that go above and beyond to help us.
My forever home in Napanee, Ontario is a wonderful place to live. My Momma Deb does all she can to provide each of us with everything we could ever need. Since my rescue many years ago, by Cindy George, I HAVE NEVER BITTEN ANYONE. I am very trusting, but fearful of humans touching me. Only very recently, I allowed Momma Deb to touch my wing and open it. That was a huge step for me. My Momma is extremely compassionate and loving, I think I will keep her forever.
Tomorrow, I will briefly introduce you too just a few of the rescued birdies that share my home with me. I have a small request of you, my friends. IF you are or know a flock or parront that helps out birdies in rescues, runs a rescue or in any other way touches our lives, please ask them to contact me.
Congratulations to Miss Ruby for her BOTD win today Nov 3rd.
Special note: The Quebec Flock-Ti-Paul, Marley etc are holding a fund raiser for the rescue they run out of their home.
Please visit my Broken Wings, Broken Promises page 232121 for details---let's help out this worthwhile cause.
with my heart filled with love
