Hi Shadow
Your poor Mom Theresa isn't to blame! Us fids are always finding ways of getting into trouble, just like what happened to me and my beak! We used to have a fister,a Moluccan Red Lory, who for some reason hated me from the start even though I did nothing to encourage the behavior she took! Nattie would get along with all my other frothers and fisters but when it came to me,I just don't know what was in her head! The first time she got me I was minding my own business sitting with Kallie and my other two fisters,Angel Gabbie and Beau in our cage,we were in a side by side cage then, and Nattie was on the other side, separated by the bars that divided the cage into two sections! Mom had gone out for two hours and when she came back to take us out of our cages,I'm usually the first one to come out of my cage but this time I just sat there, when Mom took me out and saw how quiet I was and then looked and saw the whole half of my lower beak was missing! And this was on a Saturday night when no vets were open in the middle of January, lots of snow on the ground! Mom tried frantically to get the vet,no luck! The whole weekend Mom wouldn't let me be alone, she slept with me in her bed and finally on Monday the vet called and by then I had lost way too much weight! The vet put me under anesthesia and wired my beak together, what was left of it,and then sent me to Boston to the big Angell Memorial Hospital to get a head xray and they broke all that the vet did to my beak, plus they made us wait for 6 hours, that's a long story in itself! And that was the first time of many that she attacked me,really badly! Mom even put locks on her cage door and she still escaped, and came after me! There's just some of our fiblings that will be mean to us for some reason or other! Tell your Mom not to blame herself for what happened! That's just the way it is when you have large flocks together, just like kids there'll always be some kind of squabbles! Your Mom is so loving, caring and sweet and shouldn't feel bad for the in an instant acts that we fids do to one another out of jealousy or competititveness between us!We love you so much, and your flock and your sweet Mom Theresa, and my Mom and us are just so thankful that we are good friends, and we couldn't imagine our lives without all of you in it! Sending you all our love along with warm birdie hugs and soft beakie kisses, and a vote too! Love,Dixie and Flock and Mom Rose
