Hi Puffin
Did you get snow there? It looks terrible on the news.
The last port on the cruise was Cozumel in Mexico. It's actually an island off the Yucatan Peninsula, and mom's excursion that day was to a park on the mainland called Xcaret. It was a neat park, they had a guided tour of the macaw flight area, and they released macaws for their daily flight around the park. Mom asked how they made sure the macaws returned, and they told her they took one of each pair, so they would come back to their mates or partners. After that, they saw the baby macaws, but not many of them as it's way after their usual breeding season. Mom got to hold an adult scarlet and an adult military macaw, and also a baby military. Then everyone had to make their way around the park and see what they could. Mom didn't see much, she kept trying to find things on the map and ended up either at dead ends or walking in circles. She did see the altars for the Day of the Dead, which were gorgeous, festooned with tons of marigolds, candles, offerings, and lots of other things. When they left the park, they got back to Cozumel just in time to board the ship, so mom didn't get to shop at all! She was not happy with that, but couldn't do anything about it. Aunt Renee did an excursion called Discover Mexico, and loved it. She had lots of shopping time, too. Mom was glad she enjoyed her day as well. After that, there was one more day at sea, which meant one more speech. This one was from the guy from World Parrot Trust, and was very interesting. Some people are asking about pics, mom has to upload them on her picasa account. When she does, she'll send you a link if she has your email address. Hope you are having a great day, hugs, Falco
