Hello, this is nikkos mama. Im hoping someone could give me some good advice on my sweet nanday conure who is 4 years old now. I rescued him from a home where he was never handled or given any kind of attention even as a baby. I have been working with him for 2 months now on the command "step up" but he is very bull headed and wants nothing to do with my finger "only if im petting him" I have broken him out of his bad habits of biting but I can not get him to step up either on my finger or my hand, even when i have treats in my hand. Also he is a veryyy picky eater and I cant seem to find any kind of food that he really likes. the only thing he really eats is sun flower seeds which I have tried training him with but he refuses to eat them when im trying to train him. everything else i have given him he wont eat...even sweet treats! help!! I have tried everything I can think of, I have tried taking him out of the room with his cage in it and taken him into a seperate room to work with him but all he wants to do is run and hide under my leg. I have tried using his favorite perch to start trying to train him to step up but he even refuses that! I spend my whole day working with him since Im a stay at home mom, I keep thinking the more time I spend with him the more he will trust me but that just does not seem to be the case at all He really is the sweetest boy ever its just the hands he is afraid of and like i said I have done so much research and talked with bird owners but nothing I do seems to be helping at all! Im hoping someone here can possibly help me, im desprite for advice so please please if anyone could help me or know anything I would greatly appreciate ANY and all advice! thank you for reading this, hopefully someone can help me with my sweet baby boy nikko. Thank you in advance
