Bravo to you, Oh Brave One! Aren't ya somethin', allowing your Mom to hold you for a bit. What bravery that would take when you're not all that crazy about hands. How sweet that you sang to her even though you were afraid and actually relaxed just a bit. You could tell those were loving hands around you, couldn't you. I can picture the hurried and relieved return to your familiar perch though. I see the same thing happen here with Grover's family. His dad bird, Tiki, loves to be petted and held up close. His tongue is workin' like crazy inside his beak the whole time he's being cuddled. Grover though is pretty uneasy about having hands wrapped around him, so he would completely sympathize with your fear of being held close. He could perch on mom all day but anything any closer and he's stepping away for a break! Silas is the only other guy who doesn't mind some close contact but he's usually so intent on preening mom's hair or tickling her neck, being asked to sit still for hug is about more than he can stand. Amazing how we're each very unique, huh. Does Julie step up for Mom??

That's the neatest thing that your mom encounters those young people on their way to work and school. It's encouraging t'know the future looks bright in some regards. My Marine is a retired one now. His five year stint concluded one month ago. Interestingly, he's still working the exact same job there in the NC; he was hired on by the civilian branch of the Osprey maintenance department! I'm lookin' forward to Christmas 'cause he'll be home for a few days then. I'd better practice my hopping skills 'cause me and that guy always have a couple of good games of tag while he's home.

Here's to you, Romeo the Brave!
