It has been busy in the nestbox over the weekend. Baby #1 hatched Saturday, #2 on Sunday, and #3 hatched within the last couple hours! They are a little ahead of schedule which I attribute to my exemplary and devoted egg sitting.
Yes, Chardonnay was picked special just for me. She has the right genetics to produce more pastel faces like me, plus she is a very large and buxom girl which would hopefully make up for my rather slight stature. Annie isn't very big either so our babies will probably be dwarfs! Plus Annie's genetics won't allow us to produce pastel faces. That's the rare, special trait that I carry and I have to be bred with a whiteface to continue it. Problem is, Char isn't even a year old yet and has shown no interest in getting cozy with me, and I'm anxious for someone NOW and not really interested in waiting for her to grow up. But in general, male cockatiels adapt pretty quickly to new mates so when the time comes it shouldn't be a problem. And Annie isn't really attached to me. I'm just a baby daddy to her - she likes the idea of babies rather than the idea of a permanent mate!
The Cuddler works 12 hour shifts so she knows how hard it is. You wouldn't think that extra 4 hours would make a difference yet it does. Hope everyone at your mom's store recovered from Gray Thursday and Black Friday and things are manageable now.
The BW's recital went well and yes, it was videotaped for posterity this time! Her teacher complimented her on how much she has improved since last spring. Her birthday is a week from today so the folks are trying to decide what to get her for her birthday, and what to save for Christmas. It's kind of a pain having a birthday during the holiday season!
Sorry to hear about your dad's cold. Hope it's not as nasty as the Cuddler's has been. She's still coughing up junk after almost 3 weeks. She came down with it right after getting a flu shot. She hadn't gotten one in years because she doesn't like the preservatives, additives, etc in it, but this year her employer said get a shot or wear a mask while at work, so she complied. Now she wishes she hadn't!
Hope you are having a good Monday. I have to get back to my babies!
