Hey SammyMiamisan
Thanks for your vote. Did you notice the jingle that Sam wrote for me? It's in my info section, feel free to sing it all month long! Thanks for the theme song, SamIAm.
Today we are starting the tour in the Paleolab area. This is a working lab at the museum where preparators (those people who get exhibits ready) work on fossils in our collection. Outside paleolab is the cast skull of a camarasaurus with a glass bowl underneath. Mom uses this to tell kids about dino skulls and teeth. Did you know that dinos had diapsid skulls, and so did we, back in the day? That means they had 2 holes behind their eyes, which served as anchors for jaw muscles and to lighten the skull in general. We birds today don't have those holes, because we've lightened our skulls by having hollow beaks and losing our teeth. Dinos could lose and regrow teeth their whole lives. I'll bet there are some people who wish they could do the same! Dinos did not chew their food, with a possible exception or 2; they bit and swallowed. The other thing mom tells tours here is that most dinosaurs ate either plants or meat, but this guy is different--he eats money! (Donations given here are used to support the paleolab and hall exhibits.) Tomorrow we will talk more about paleolab. Mom got some good pics in there. Thanks again for your support, here's a vote for you, too. I do vote for everyone every day, so if I don't mention it, you know you still have a vote from me. Hugs, Gizzymodo
