hi polly
i am just on the plain harrisons pellets. thy do have harrisons pellets for liver diesease but the vet felt the plain was better. anyway boo boo mutilates her feathers and mom doesnt know why. she bought this aloe vera detox at the health food store for my liver disease because everyone says there is about a 90 percent success rate with using it in birds and people. you are only suppose to use it for about 3 weeks and it is very strong smelling and mom was worried i wouldnt drink it mixed in my water but i did. anyway she thought well it couldnt hurt to try a little bit on boo boo and would you believe she quit mutilating her feathers. as soon as mom quit giving it to her she started mutilating them again. the first thing she goes for is her tail then she works on her wings. so after using the aloe vera detox mom then switched to just plain aloe vera juice in our drinking water. we get that every day and something about it soothes the skin and i guess thats why boo boo leaves her feathers alone. they also have it in bird spray but since boo boo takes so many bathes in her water dish she is already getting the spray. mom says that what ever was making me sneeze all the time also stopped after taking the aloe vera detox so if i ever start to sneeze again she will start it up. alcoholics with liver disease say this also helps them. mom keeps a bottle of aloe vera detox on hand as a bird emergency treatment. love cori
