Hi Cu-Bird
Wow, a new cage and a ton of food makes it sound like mom is ready for Christmas! Even if it IS bird food, heehee.
Meet The Horn Section! In this pic today, you can see some more of the amazing variety of ceratopsians from North America. Starting on the left is a guy whose horn in front got flattened out, so he has kind of a flat looking face, but still the horns and frill over his neck. Next to him is Torosaurus, with the open frill and 2 instead of 3 horns on his face, but his head is the same size as the triceratops we saw yesterday. In back of him is the smallest of the North American guys, Zuniceratops, who was found in New Mexico. He is a cutie, and mom loves to point him out, because he's partway between protoceratops and the big guys. To the far right is a ceratopsian who is so new it doesn't yet have a name. It was found in Utah, so that may end up being part of its name in the future. These guys are some of the late Cretaceous guys wandering on the west side of the seaway where the dinos got huge. They are all plant eaters, and probably the variety of neck covering frills and horns were for display to the girls. Here's your daily vote and hug, see you tomorrow, I hope. Gizmo
