Hi Pookie Pie
I had to fly over and tell you the news from today! Today's big event was that the police brought an owl to us. Mom thinks it's a great horned owl. It has a broken wing and maybe other injuries but we don't know yet. It is in Picabo's travel cage in the casita. Not near us. We will never see it. Tomorrow mom is taking it to the wildlife vet to see if anything can be done. Mom did get it to drink some water and eat a little orange. It is probably in shock and it is sleeping now. It is absolutely gorgeous with huge eyes. Mom gave it some head scritches and said it is super soft. It is a really majestic bird and so sad to see it in trouble. Mom thinks if it survives, it may go to the zoo. My parronts know they can't keep it for many reasons but especially dealing with the diet it needs - live animals - yuck! Hopefully it will be able to be returned to the wild. Mom thinks maybe it is illegal to keep owls captive here anyway.
Anyway, this is interesting and we'll see what happens with the wildlife vet tomorrow! Mom talked to her today and it didn't sound like she'd had any dealing with owls before so maybe they will end up going to the zoo or to the ecology vet people for the federal government. We'll see if the owl makes it through the night as we don't know if it has other injuries or not.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Hugs, Squeaky
