HI Caroline!
Have your tried rice? That is great too. I made a big mess eating tonite. My beak was covered in seeds! Yea! What fun!
The police brought my parronts an injured owl yesterday. Mom thinks he's a Great Horned Owl. He had a broken wing. My parronts cared for him all nite and this morning they took him to their wildlife vet - she's our bird vet. She took him for an xray and his wing was broken in 6 places so she had to amputate his wing. He is doing great and eating live mice at her house. She breeds snakes so she has lots of mice. My parronts will visit him on Monday but he will go to live with some other owls that a person cares for in the city if possible. The vet has to call the government, like our fish and wildlife people, to see what they want her to do as it is illegal to have a wild owl here. He can't go back in the wild though. He is a beautiful bird and my parronts were so happy to be able to share a little time with such a special bird and get to hold and pet him. He was very calm and didn't try to hurt anyone even though he must have been in great pain. And such lovely eyes....
Well, that's our eggscitement! Have a fun weekend!
Hugs, Scion
P.S. Tell your mom to start with a little rub on the beak at first and then after a few weeks, maybe you'll let her move her finger up on your forehead area and eventually you'll get a head scritch. That worked for my fister Squeaky who hates fingers but now loves a good head scritch for an hour or so.
