Hi Kiddo
when my dad had his pain surgery he got no pain meds. number one he wouldnt take them even if he did need them because he doesnot like feeling light headed and that is what pain meds do that why everyone always wants to take them to get high. instead they put 4 nerve blocks in his back along his spinal cord which they removed before he went home. because of the nerves blocks he felt no discomfort at all. the reason Sweetpeppers g-pa is not allowed to have any liquids is because any liquid might cause him to vomit, because of the surgery on his stomach, which i think might harm his new esophagus and probably would hurt like crazy. our g-ma wasnt allowed to have any liquids for 2 weeks because of complications from having open heart at the age of 89. there were too many tubes and things in her. the sponge is the best bet for him right now. i have to get ready now for the party. love Cori
