|Aww, what a sweet picture of you
Hello Rusty, It was very nice of you to fly by. I'm sorry it's taken me so long to visit you in return. When you wrote it was still fairly cold here and I longed to come and join you in your aviary. We've had some nice days again, with very cold nights.
That is so sweet that you and Romeo are allopreening. Mama says that she would love to see a picture of it. I don't know why, but she loves seeing pictures of birds getting along and preening each other. I bet I'd like a friend to preen me. I most certainly wouldn't risk trying it with Pepper though. He's very picky about his personal space. With me, that is. He and Pring have a funny friendship going on there which is nice for both of them.
I am feeling a little better today. I got to go on a short road trip this morning, then late afternoon I was taken out to feel the sunshine for 20 minutes. I even had a short babble session this morning.
It's been a really rough week. On Monday I received the package from the vet. It had some drops to rub onto my swollen sinuses, a water based cream to rub onto my infected skin on my breast and the antibiotics. To begin with everything went well... I stopped pulling my feathers after the cream was put on me. I readily took my antibiotic and let the drops be rubbed in my face. Then I lost my appetite completely. A few days later and the grams have dropped off me. I got irritated with the cream on my breast and pulled out every single feather that had any of it touching it. One day I was so bad that even after being showered I was ripping at wet feathers. Mama kind of freaked out, though she tried not to show it. She made me a soft collar and put it on me. After that was one hour of misery as I flipped and flapped, trying to take it off. She put me on her bed with a barrier of blankets so I wouldn't fall off and hurt myself. An hour later I discovered that if I stuck my feet in the collar and flapped my wings wildly the thing could come off. I was exhausted after that I didn't need it put back on and I slept well in the night. The next day I spent sleeping and not eating, so Mama finally gave in and started feeding me only my favourite treats. After eating a little I've got a bit of appetite again, though not much.
Thankfullly the collar has not been put back on me. I'm only taking one little feather here or there. I do have a collar from the vet, but Mama cannot get it on me. A decision will be made if I'm to wear it, after the vet has seen me.
I'll be going to see him on Thursday and they'll take x-rays to see what's going on with my digestion. Please pray that they can figure out what the problem is. It seems that until they do I'll continue to get one infection after another. It's been this way for 18 months and I'm tired of not feeling like playing properly or talking.
We've had a few cold days again, but I hope they are short lived. It took the whole day to warm up and then it was still cool out there. We've got some crocuses and violets
