`Ü´ *Ruby arrives at The Flower Shop
with a bag full of groceries that she picked up on the way in at the BirdChannelVille GroceryMart.

She has farm fresh eggs for scrambling and whole milk to whip them up with, fresh baked sourdough bread from their bakery for toast, (she cheated a little and got) instant grits and real butter and her favorite brand of maple syrup to mix with them, she got honey butter for the toast and homemade strawberry jam for the toast and scones from their bakery too. Ruby gets a twinkle in her eye thinking that maybe she will serve the eggs up "in a basket", heaping the scrambled eggs into a hole cut in the center of the toasted, buttered sourdough bread. Then there would be more jam for the scones!

She bought freshly squeezed orange juice. And, of course, they always have the BirdChannel's Best Coffee to brew in their own coffee maker at The Flower Shop. She even bought some French vanilla flavored creamer! Naturally there is also half-and-half in the fridge.

But the pièce de resistance is the thick cut, hickory smoked turkey bacon that Ruby had the butcher in the store cut eggsactly to her specifications. Precisely the thickness a birdie can sink her beak into!

"Hmmm." Ruby thinks to herself, as she puts the groceries away until Miss Alex arrives and she can prepare the fresh, hot meal for her. "I can't think of anything else. ... ... ... Oh my GOOD ness!!! I've forgotten the most important thing!!!"

And Ruby rushes back out the door of The Flower Shop and goes straight next door to The Pie Shop and breathlessly requests a dozen Bear Claws!

Upon returning to The Flower Shop, now confident that she has the breakfast fixin's fit for a Queen, Ruby begins bringing the crocks of fresh cut flowers and pre-made arrangements out of the cooler in the back room, and preparing The Shop for opening in just a little while.

But before she finishes setting up everything for the day's business, she stops ... dead in her tracks. "Eureka! I've got the perfect touch to make this the special surprise I want it to be for Miss Alex!" Ruby says aloud as she hurries to the workbench in the back room where she assembles the most lovely, simple arrangement for a centerpiece for their little Featheriends' Breakfast when Miss Alex arrives.

After placing the centerpiece in the middle of the café table in the back room, Ruby returns to the task of preparing The Shop for opening.*
