Hi Spring
Tell mom that the discoloration on the tail might be from his time away from her. Also, the thin appearance could be from not finding a good source or being chased away from a good source of food/water. Is there a special thing that mom and Sunshine did? A special place on her that he stood, a special perch he liked a lot? If so, she should see if this bird responds to that. It's hard to tell, because a lot of 'tiels have the same markings, but if it's Sunshine, he might recognize a special whistle, call, trick, perch, food treat, whatever. Maybe if mom goes to see him again, she can bring one of his stuffed toys and see if he recognizes that? Just a thought... Hope it turns out to be little Sunshine, though! Hugs, Gizmo
