Hi Ms Alex
You just missed the big race day at Santa Anita last Saturday. You would have seen top horses and jockeys. Now, they are on the way to Churchill Downs.
DAY 13
Most Derby winners were foaled in March or April. There are a few notable exceptions. There are a few Derby winners who were not actually three years old at the time they ran for the roses. Northern Dancer, the winner of the 1964 Derby was foaled on May 27, 1961 and the race was run on May 2, 1964. No horse since Apollo in 1882 has won the Derby without having raced at age two.
Please note that naming your race horse must follow rules too. Naming your horse has 18 rules starting with … you can not have more than 18 letters (spaces and punctuation counts as letters) total in the name. The Jockey Club will approve the application.
Hugs
Chyna
