Looking pretty dapper there! I know right where you are standing too.
Well, after the appointment, mom got her new derby hat and did give me a treat when she got home. Hey, you are too early for fresh cherries. We can get chery stuff anywhere up here ...as you know (even a huge pie ...hehehe).
Monday was such a beautiful sunny day of 60 degrees. today we woke up to rain and 50. then it got a lot colder and by dinner, snow. All the bare spots are now white again ....GRRR!!!!
The grueling schedule of the three races in 5 weeks at longer distances than most have run previously, is the most difficult task a horse will face in his racing career. There have been 11 Triple Crown winners. Thirty horses have won the first two legs of the triple Crown, but 19 of them failed to win Belmont. Sir Barton was the first winner in 1919. The other winners are Gallant Fox (1930), Omaha (1935), War Admiral (1937). Whirlaway (1941), Count Fleet (1943), Assault (1946), Citation (1948), Secretariat (1973), Seattle Slew (1977), and Affirmed (1978). Sadly, the last triple crown winner, Seattle Slew passed away on May 7, 2002.
