Hi Pepper
BOTM and 10K in one month is plenty for me. I've only been on here 1 1/2 years so, I think that's a big accomplishment. I guess I talk too much ... hehehe. I still have all my derby stuff to do. Mom's derby party is coming up and the Milonga Derby is the week after.
DAY 23
The grueling schedule of the three races in 5 weeks at longer distances than most have run previously, is the most difficult task a horse will face in his racing career. There have been 11 Triple Crown winners. Thirty horses have won the first two legs of the triple Crown, but 19 of them failed to win Belmont. Sir Barton was the first winner in 1919. The other winners are Gallant Fox (1930), Omaha (1935), War Admiral (1937). Whirlaway (1941), Count Fleet (1943), Assault (1946), Citation (1948), Secretariat (1973), Seattle Slew (1977), and Affirmed (1978). Sadly, the last triple crown winner, Seattle Slew passed away on May 7, 2002.
