Hi Sadie
How are u sweetie? So sorry it took so long to get back to u, my mom has MS, & has been having a rough few weeks! How is my fellow Military doing? Mom & I have been praying for him, along with all the other birds/critters at ur rescue! Mom went onto ur rescue page, I'm sorry to hear that u had been abused & required corrective surgery. Out of the 6 of us critters, only Sadie the wiener dog was not a rescue, tho mom feels she saved her from a less than ideal life! Mom grew up with Dachshunds & has always loved them! Her beloved dachshund Greta lived 19 yrs & passed almost 5 yrs ago. Mom got Sadie almost 3 yrs ago, & saved her from a life of having litter after litter of pups, which is what the owner planned for her! Instead, she has a mom that loves her, & all of us, very much!

U are correct, I am one of the lucky rescues indeed! I only lived with my 1st family for 4 months, but I was never abused & they loved me very much! I was most bonded with the dad. They had a young child & a baby on they way, & realized that I was just too much bird for them! At the same time, my mom was actively looking for a macaw, & saw my ad in the paper. She decided she would get a bird that needed a good home. After speaking with the dad for an hour by phone, he agreed to let mom come visit me. His top priority was finding me a good, loving home. He told mom that he had around 100 calls about me, but mom was the only person he let come visit me. Mom spent many years doing research, & he felt comfortable that mom was knowledgeable, he wanted to make sure I would be loved & wouldn't be locked in my cage 24/7. Mom held up her hand & I stepped up on her...it was love at first hold for both of us! Mom brought me to my forever home that day! I owe him a lot of thanks, he picked out the perfect mom for me & I couldn't be happier! I've been with my mom for 16 wonderful, happy yrs now! My mom loves me very, very much & spends so much time with me! However, the last couple months have been rough on mom, I've been very hormonal like never before! Mom is very patient & loving, no matter how severe the bites! I know a lot of people would keep me locked up, but I only get timeouts, coz mom knows I can't help instinctual behavior!
Lots of love to u, ur mom, & all in her care
Tia & mom Sandy
