Hi Cookie
Mom's dad was actually worried about her living across from the stadium with all the events they have. She has (knock on wood) not had any issues with this at all -- either due to noise or traffic. We have to go down a road to get to our complex so we can't actually see the stadium. Most of our windows and doors face towards the river (opposite the stadium) so we don't see the stadium (or the fireworks -- seeing the fireworks would be cool). We can't see the river, but if mom takes a walk towards the river, she goes past another apartment complex and then to a new complex of townhouses/condos being built (which are gorgeous! Mom wants one but can't afford them). If she does a walk down and back it's about a mile (to the river).
I, Tango, am skittish of new people and hands. If you put your hands behind your back and ask me for a kiss, I will give you one. I am sweet and never bite. But there are some things that you'd think I'd be afraid of but am not. I hiss and sway at squirrels on the deck (off the MBR) but mom got a new bird feeder so now they don't come! Both of us hate stink bugs and make our own unique noises when we see one. But lots of times, mom buys new toys and I go right over to them before Kahlua can get them! LOL Even though we do tend to like different types of toys. I love the vacuum and want to ride on it but mom won't let me near it. One time she left her old vacuum old (not plugged in) and I put a hole in the hose. I'm not quite sure why mom was so upset! Then when the head maintenance guy comes over to fix things I like him. Mom had to lock me up one day because I kept trying to "help him" fix the tub. Kahlua just watches. He loves us and likes when we have a problem in the apartment. We used to live right across from the maintenance garage and had triple windows with a long windowsill and we used to watch the guys work. They always waved and said hello if they saw us. Kahlua learned how to imitate the noise of the go-cart.
So I'm scared of some things but not others.
Kahlua is the same way but is more social with new people. If she doesn't like something she backs away from it. If it's really bad, she growls and gets fluffy. But some things she loves. Last time mom got food (well, I just assumed it was our food), mom was busy with work so I started to open the box for her. Maybe mom will post a picture later.
I like when mom visits her dad because he's Italian and an awesome cook! She brings us food too sometimes. Mom's mom visits us a lot (well, to help our mom clean) but she's not a big eater but she will give us little pieces of bread. I don't know if mom mentioned this but she has to eat gluten-free so it took her awhile to find good food. We are adjusting very well now. Besides, most of the food we are allowed to eat is naturally gluten-free anyway.
Mom also buys us non-bird toy things because we seem to like them better and they cost less. She also finds that you can get good "bird toys" at stores like Oriental Tr
