Jasper hit a towering pop fly into left field which Pepper nailed with a diving catch. Ziggy hit a double and moved to 3rd on Tia’s single. Blue and Cori would strike out to leave the 2 Beaks on the bases.
The Base Fliers would copy the Beaks as Chi Chi struck out and Susan hit the pop fly. DJ’s double and Norman’s single left them stranded when Kiddo hit to right field was caught by Jasper.
The Beaks would score 1 run as Mackenzie hit a single and scored when Reba hit a triple. The Base Fliers stopped the rally with 3 outs by Simon, Ruby and Rio.
Base Flier Pepper opened with a triple hit past diving 3rd base birdie Reba but like the Fliers did not score as the Beak defense retired SweetPepper, Mango and Sage.
With the score 14-18 Base Fliers, both teams were 3 up 3 down as the defenses got in the zone. Jasper, Ziggy, and Tia, and Angel, Chi Chi, and Susan were sent packing to the dugout.
Running out of innings, the Beaks needed to get the bats going. Blue was struck out swinging for the fences. Cori then hit a triple and scored when Mackenzie hit a double. The Base Fliers defense stopped the Beaks again with outs by Reba and Simon.
With the score 15-18, DJ Luigi hit a solo HR into right field. Norman struck out as Kiddo and Pepper got singles. Not being able to give up any more runs to the Base Fliers, the Beak defense would retire SweetPepper and Mango.
The Base Fliers took the field trying to hold onto a 4 run lead. They met briefly on the pitchers mound with cheerleader Peanut saying, “Let’s win this for Shaggy!” Pitcher Chi Chi struck out Ruby with a slider and Rio’s fly ball was caught by Mango. Jasper would ignite some hope with a triple but Chi Chi would end the game striking out Ziggy.
