Hi again Ritz... from Flooper PART 2
I used to be BADDD. I would say UP UP NO BITE. BAAAD. THe first thing I would do when I was on Mom's arm is reach down and grab on to Mom's arm or wrist or anything I could get that looked good at the timei and dig in, and yes, break skin. Mom would let out this loud OWWWWWW and I would laugh. Oh would I let out out this witch's cackle. I was horrible. Mom would get me back into my cage, telling me I hurt her, and she would run to get something to stop the bleeding and I would still be laughing. She would come back and show me the hurt, with tears in her eyes. I knew I made her cry and I did not like that, so eventually, in time I stopped biting her. At least not that hard. In the springtime this past year I was hormonal but she would remind me NO BITE and I was pretty good. It is very hard to control oneself. I was rather nasty with the other macaws. I would chase them around all over the place. I am a climber, much more than they are. I can get anywhere, and they will scream out for mom to come and save them. It is funny because Mom is right there watching. Well… enough for now. More next time. As for starting a rescue, think about it very carefully. It is a lot of work. It takes up all your time which means no vacation, no free time. Mom is retired and is devoted to us. Like her older kids say – you love your birds more than you do your grandchildren.
