`Ü´ *Ruby arrives at The Flower Shop
having received a note once again from Miss Alex that she will be otherwise occupied today and will not be able to come into The Shop today to work.

This is never a problem for either one of the Partners as they have covered for each other regularly since the first days of their partnership, and they each know all of the requirements of running the daily business of The Flower Shop inside and out.

So Ruby starts immediately preparing The Shop for opening by loading the cart with the crocks of fresh cut flowers and the pre-made arrangements from the cooler in the back room, and distributing them around the sales floor for customers to enjoy and peruse when they enter The Shop today. Then she prepares the Customer Service Counter with Order and Receipt Books and pencils for each one. She retrieves the cash register drawer from the safe in Miss Alex's office and, after counting it out to make sure she starts the day with the proper amount in the drawer, inserts it into the Cash Register. She double checks the ink and the tape in the register so that nobirdy will be kept waiting during the day while that might need to be done.

After completing all of the tasks to prepare The Flower Shop for opening, Ruby sets a pot of Tea to brew on the stove in the back room.

Then she turns on the lights in the sales area on her way to the front of The Shop where she turns the sign in the window to read "OPEN for Business!" and unlocks the front door to begin another day's business.

Then she returns to the back room to enjoy a cup of Tea while she awaits the arrival of her first customer of the day.*
