Hi Kallie & Dixie
Has Nana gotten a new date for her surgery yet? We hope it's soon! And that's awful that she keeps having falls. She needs to be extra careful because the risks of broken bones are so much greater at her age. Sending prayers that her leg is better!

We are so glad you enjoy NTT! We posted the songs last Sunday but that night our typist left her uncle's in Denver to go to her brother's in Nebraska. Her brother doesn't have wireless so she wasn't able to get online or update the page at all. She missed the news about Gizmo and Chi Chi and was so sad when she finally heard that they went to the Bridge. Sadly, little Wild Thing went to the Bridge too. The breeder is so disheartened and doesn't know what she did wrong. She thinks perhaps she wasn't feeding often enough. She was feeding them on a cockatiel schedule and thinks a keet must need more frequent feedings since both babies had empty crops when they died. She feels just terrible about it! Thing 1 and Thing 2 are doing wonderfully but their new mama is a stay at home mom and can afford to feed them every 2 hours!

The good news is, we have more eggs in our nest box! The breeder is going to leave the babies with us to raise, and pull them after they are weaned to tame. We were tame once but now that we live in the aviary we are wild and free budgies and nobody can catch us!

As you know, Rico is green and Paulie is blue, and our wives are pieds. Three of the little babies were blue and one was pied. Is blue recessive to green, and does that mean Paulie is the likely culprit - we mean, daddy? Both girls take turns sitting on the eggs and we both feed them when they're in the nest box. We have two nest boxes but we only like one of them so we share it. We're just one big happy hippie budgie commune!

Our typist had a WONDERFUL time on vacation and finished her summer class as well, so she gets a break until the end of August. There's so much work to be done around the house, plus she has scheduled a couple fun events - like taking the Feeder to a Weird Al concert, and taking the breeder to see the Moody Blues! Both should be fun!

We've had so much rain that our poor veggies and flowers are waterlogged. We lost most of our herb garden and one of our 2 tomato plants is dying as well. Better rain now than snow in the winter though!

Give your mom and Nana a big hug from us!

Love,
Rico & Paulie
