Hello Amando~
I hope you are having a wonderful day! I'm just having fun hanging out with mom. I missed her so much yesterday while she was at jury duty!
She didn't have to go today but she has to call in every evening for the next 2 weeks.

Yesterday they started with an orientation. It was pretty boring and was just a review of what was in the booklet they gave everyone. There was a presentation by the sheriffs department showing them all kinds of weapons that people had tried to sneak in. It was crazy. There was even a lipstick that was really a knife!

They showed everyone a taser and told them that in Washington State they are legal to have but in the city of Tacoma they are not! They also told everyone that gun permits were no longer issued in the courthouse and that you had to go across the street to the building with the blue awning to get a permit. Mom is still trying to figure out why she needed to know where to get a gun permit! Is jury duty that dangerous?

She got picked for a panel before orientation was done which was good because it was getting pretty silly. They were telling them that if they only had one badge on, they were single. If they got picked for a panel they had to add a second badge and they were engaged. If they got picked for the jury, they were married! Who came up with this stuff????

She then spent the next 3 hours sitting in the hallway across from the domestic violence unit reading a book. She was re-reading Mockingjay because the courthouse made her think of the Hunger Games! Okay! She's weird!

Just before noon, they started flashing the light in the hallway which meant they wanted the jurors back in the jury room! They told them that the defendant decided not to go ahead with the trial and that they could all leave!

Mom called dad to come pick her up and he told her to walk up to the McDonalds and get something to eat while she was waiting for him. Mom grabbed a diet coke and was reading her book while she waited. Then two guys in the parking lot got into a screaming match so mom decided to go check out an old apartment building up the street. Mom likes old buildings! It was very cool even with someone sleeping on the front lawn. It's probably pretty pricey even though it's old because it's on the waterfront! Lots of screeching seagulls too so that is an added bonus!

I hope I didn't bore you going on and on!!
Stomping out a vote and sending hugs your way!
Love you ~ Sugar
