Dear Coach Sam
Coach Reba here with a very long overdue note for you. Awhile back, in fact, it was a month ago, a package was delivered to my house in which were some very unexpected items. Oh Sam! You silly Grey, you! Gas masks!! What a laugh I got when I realized that was what was inside the doubly-signed for box! I recall that game with, shall we say, a heightened olfactory awareness, I do, I do. What a gas those last couple of innings were! You Sluggers had many of us Big Beaks chuckling throughout those remaining innings despite our determination to keep a keen focus on winning the game. I never once thought the behavior boorish. On the contrary, I found it to be good humor at a moment when some might be tempted to resort to acts of poor sportsmanship that really reeked. Your gesture of gifting the MLBs with the specially designed parrot gas masks was most thoughtful though. We will treasure them as a symbol of a good game on a fine summer afternoon.

Reba leans in closer to Sam and then whispers, "The thing I really love about mine is the reaction I still get from the rest of McFlock when I put it on. Birds part like the Red Sea when I don the contraption, making whatever's in their treat dishes mine, no argument. I will say it's a real challenge to eat with the mask on though. In fact, it's downright impossible."

It's been a pleasure sharing this baseball season alongside you and your Silver Sluggers. I wish you the best as the season nears its conclusion.

Reba shakes Sam's wing before parting with a wave.
