The ‘TIELS HOST THE QUAKERS
The visiting team, the Quaker Little Dragons, would get off to a strong start in the first inning with four runs on the combined efforts of Photon’s triple, Waddle’s double, triples by Audie and Cookie and a double from Micky. (+4) Quincy would add a run with his solo homer (+1) in the 2nd inning but the ‘Tiel Terrors held them to scoreless innings from the 3rd on through the 6th.
The ‘Tiels went about accumulating their runs a few at a time; in the 1st inning Mikey’s triple would become a run on Kacey’s triple (+1). In the 2nd, Peeper’s solo home run would add another run.(+1) In the 4th, it was Panther’s triple that scored Joey who’d connected for a double (+1) then another triple, this one off Peeper’s bat that put Panther across home plate. (+1) Moggie’s double would score Peepers for one more in the 4th. (+1) In the 5th, Mikey’s double would become a run when Joey slammed out the fifth triple of the ‘Tiels game. (+1)
The Terrors charged ahead in the 6th inning, putting seven runs on the board. Peeper’s single became a run on Sunshine’s triple(+1) Pepper’s double scored Sunshine (+1). A seventh triple, this one by Zippy put Pepper in over home plate (+1). Zippy would cross the last bag on a single by Mikey. (+1) Grover’s home run would add (+2) . Kacey’s triple become the 7th run when Joey snagged a single. (+1)
The score at bottom of the 6th; Quakers 5, Terrors 13.
At the top of the 7th, the Dragons cranked up the heat. Quincy and Photon’s singles would become runs on Polly’s triple (+2) Waddle’s huge home run added (+2) to the board when he and Polly touched home plate. Audie, Cookie and Micky would load the bases but the ‘Tiel defense reigned down their terror and denied the Quakers any more runs.
Quaker defense was hot in the bottom of the 7th as well, denying the ‘Tiels any runs.
The score, going into the 8th inning: Quakers 9, Terrors 13.
