I live in a rescue. My Momma runs a private rescue.
Some Rescues have very strict adoption rules--like your friend found out. They worry that a person with no experience with birds might be taking on more then they can handle and the bird is returned.
They seem to over-look the fact that some people just are large bird people, never having a small or medium one. Just like people that prefer a large or giant breed dog over a toy or small one.
I guess I see their point and the other side better standing back on my perch. Big birds are a lot of work that some are not willing to give.
Your Mom ought to look into adopting a Too. She has large bird experience on her side.
It's hot here today almost 85f already at 11:30am Finally we get summer weather. I hope I get outside today.
Momma has to go look after birdies but I wanted to stop by to say hello.
