|Baldwin, the Raptor shows the way
Hello to all my friends on BC. Casey here with the continuing Adventures of Casey and Kiddo. It is truly heart-warming to see all the support and encouraging words from my many friends; both old and new. When September ends, it is my friends that I will cherish most. I hope each of you will come to know how precious you are to me, and my flockily.
The water splashed high into the air as the three friends continued their game of water tag. It was George who said,'I think we better be moving on now there is much more to see." George splashes Casey with his huge paw one last time before bouncing his way to the grassy shore.
"Kiddo, You up first" George says offering his paw up to his friend. Casey scrambles up behind him, and settles in for a soft, comfy ride. The sun begins a slow decent towards the west as the three adventurers turn a sharp curve to the left in the path. Casey looks wide-eyed as a pair of rare Spix Macaws fly over head. The jungle bursts with the chatting calls of various Monkey species gathering togetehr for the soon coming dusk.
Suddenly a large shadow sweeps over head darkening the place where George, Casey and Kiddo are standing quietly watching.
" What was that?" Casey asks eggcitedly.
'I believe that was our friend Baldwin. HE is an American Bald Eagle. HE was injured in September of 2011 and was taken to the "Coach Duty Wildlife Center.' King Willie had it build to help all the injured, abandoned and animals in need of care. On September 25th the " Bailey Memorial Flight Cage" was opened to house all Raptors and Birds of Prey that needed somewhere to recover from injuries, to relearn to fly or land. Baldwin was here from the start and although he recovered, he remains here on the ground, visiting George, Gary and all the other birds and animals that live here."
Casey looks high into the sky for another glimpse of Baldwin. The huge Eagle floats effortlessly in the air, veiled by the sunset and soft white clouds. Turning back, he flies towards the opening close by to where the three explorers have stood in awe of his beauty. Coming to a landing on a heavy limb of a fallen tree.
"Welcome Kiddo, and this must be Casey?" Baldwin smiles and extends his long, powerful talons to shake wings with his friends. "George, always wonderful to see you" he gives the Tiger an affectionate tickle under the chin.
"I am showing Casey around the Castle, and grounds." George says happily. ' IS King Willie and his fister Falco at the Wildlife Center?" Kiddo asks
"Indeed they are. I just saw them heading over to visit the Raptors in the Bailey Memorial Flight. Follow me, I'll lead the way" Baldwin jumps into the air, with one powerful stroke of his long wings. George runs trying to keep up.
"Hold on Casey, Kiddo. That Baldwin sure moves fast" George laughs as he jumps over a low rail fence.
Casey stares wide-eyed as the flight comes into view...............
see you tomorrow
