Hi Poco
You're so pretty! Mom got her parrotlet from a breeder in January, 2005. She was a pacific blue, turquoise with navy blue by her eyes...she was beautiful! Mom named her Sunshine, as in "Sunshine, on my shoulder, makes me happy" from the John Denver song. She was a baby when we got her, so tiny... Sunshine was feisty and bold. Mom used to put her on a play gym in the a.m. so that she could clean her cage...Sunshine would jump down and walk over to mom and tell her off! Every day! We 'Tiels would get out of her way, let me tell ya! Things went well until August, 2008. She started to shiver all the time. Mom took her to the avian vet on a Wednesday or Thursday and they kept her 4 or 5 days...they said that they never could get her warm. Mom was upset that the vet didn't let her know how bad things were. She died on Sunday and they didn't call until Monday. Mom was so upset. To be honest, mom wished that she wouldn't have taken this sweet little bird to the vet, because all she could think of was that she was alone in a strange place & died alone. Mom has lost birds before, always holding them and loving them as they passed. 5 years later, it still hurts. In April of '09, the parronts went to the local bird club's bird fair & bought some raffle tickets to help support the bird club. The ticket's were for 2 male budgies & the parronts won! So now we are an all male flock, 2 budgies & 2 cockatiels. Mom felt that the Lord picked our flock to be home to the 2 budgies. They aren't tame, but the parronts love them...well, I've gone on and on. We know that you are really going to enjoy Poco...congrats!
