Hi Mayo-
Right now, all our zebra finches are in one flight cage, and the two society finches are in another. The zebra finch cage is old, tho, and getting rusty, so Mom ordered another one. Problem is, they're crowded now, and Mom ordered a slightly smaller cage, cuz the grate from their old cage was too big to clean easily. So the plan is, when Phoenix is ready to join the flock in a week or so, we'll take some of the zebras and put them in with the societies. Hopefully, they'll get along ok. Zebras can be a little aggressive at times, tho, so we'll have to keep an eye on them.

Yes, the male finches sing, and they all have different songs. Mom calls Phoenix "the jazz man" cuz his song sounds like a piece of a jazz solo to her. Franklin is our old man now, and doesn't sing too much, but his song sounds like Donna Summer's old "Bad Girls" with a beep, beep, toot, toot. One of our young ones sounds like a morse code operator....he apparently wasn't with his dad long enough to learn a really nice song!

The society finches have a more melodic song...Mom thinks they're a little more canary like! But our two don't seem to have very distinct songs like the zebras do. We don't have as much experience with Society finches, tho, so we can't make generalizations.

By the way, your Mom should never apologize for asking questions! How else can those silly hoomans learn anything!!

Hope your day is terrific!
