Oh My! You're In Spookyville!
Today I have been up to many things. Mom kept me inside my cage because her mate with help from one of their neighbors, decided to take down some dead trees that might have found their way to the northwest corner of Mom's front porch. Moms have a way of getting cranky if trees happen to hit their houses much like if anything were to hit or TOUCH our cages! I'm not sure if she would bite anyone or not but I would encourage her to do so! It puts them in their place right away!

After her mate felled 9 dead trees, he dragged them way to the back where they will be cut up into pieces of firewood. Mom doesn't burn a fire in the fireplace anymore because it sends her to the hospital! Turns out when you're allergic to a tree & the tree's pollen, you are ALSO allergic when it is burnt! Mom didn't know that long ago. Yes, she learned by the School of Hard Knocks….or in this case…..Hard Woods. No breathing can happen if there's a fire with wood as the fuel. So, when it gets really cold, the other neighbors come around & will take this chopped & seasoned wood away to their house where they can use it.

I watched for Mom's mate as he would drive by dragging those HUGE trees! Yeah, he had to do it one at a time. Anyway, when he'd ride by, I'd say, "There he goes!" Mom would smile & keep on cutting up some baked chicken. Oh, was THAT good! She made a chicken salad for the evening meal & it had lots of things that I could eat in with it! There were apples & grapes, & that chicken, too! Mom gave me some minus the mayo, onion & spices. I was happy because it was served on a half piece of cornbread! I was a very contented bird today!

I met the man who helped Mom's mate this afternoon. I had never seen him before & at first I was very shy but I ate up the attention! Mom told me his name was Tom. I like that. Simple just like my name! Mom explained to him that if he had a minute, if they sat in the living room, where I couldn't see them, that I would start joining in with the conversation…..usually. Well, that's exactly what they did! They LEFT me & started a conversation in the living room. Seems this guy is thinking about getting a bird. Mom explained all about the Parrot University where he could come, for free, & work in their rescue with all sorts of different kinds of birds to see what may be one he would like to adopt. While Mom explained to him the in's & out's of their adoption program, I would interject my opinion with "right" and "YES!" just like I knew what she was talking about….WHICH I DO!!! (Sam fluffs his feathers as if anybirdy would have any doubt!) He liked the sound of that & knew where it was when Mom explained to him the directions to find it. Hopefully, he will find a birdson that will be wanting a human just like him! He did seem like a really nice guy!

Well, I'm counting on a fantastic Friday tomorrow! I think you should, too! Hugs, SamIAm
