Hi SamIAm
Millet Mac and Cheese

I was given a female cockatiel that never ate anything but millet before she came to live with me. She was especially stubborn when it came to trying new things. Using this recipe, I got her eating new foods in no time at all. This is a great one for getting small to medium-size birds to try new foods. For larger birds, try chopped sunflowers or pistachio nuts.

1 box any brand macaroni and cheese ¼ cup grated carrots
½ cup Kaytee pellets ¼ cup chopped broccoli
½ cup millet

Make the macaroni and cheese according to the instructions on the box. Add in the pellets and grated carrots. Sprinkle the millet on top, lightly pushing it into the macaroni with the back of a spoon. (My tiels loved the millet and started eating that, but because it was pushed into the macaroni and cheese, they ended up having to eat some of that as well. Now the same tiels will eat anything that I give them.) Putting millet in this dish will entice even the pickiest of birds. (You can also try mega millet for larger birds.)

HELPFUL HINT: If you don't have broccoli, you can add cauliflower or asparagus instead.

I can't thank you enough for all the love and supporting votes you have been sending me each and every day! I just couldn't have done it without you! I'm so sorry for the short visit but Mom has another one of those out everyday of the week things going on again. She was supposed to stay home with us yesterday but skin sis called and wanted her to spend the day with her and Nana,so she didn't get home til after 6:30 last night,Wednesday she has to take Nana for her errand runs,Thursday is skin bro's birthday and he wants to go to Longhorn which is over the Bourne Bridge so that's another full day and part of the evening gone,Friday Mom has to take Nana to the eye surgeon to see just why she's not seeing clearly as she should be and why she still has double vision! Mom is relying on my dad to help me out with my BOTM visits so I don't get far behind! I do hope he does a good job of it for me!Oh Sam,it sure sounds like you're having sooo much fun with those bottle caps! Your poor Mom and all those wasps, how awful that they decided to invade your living space! My Mom several years back sold her Franklin stove which was only used once for really cheap! It was out in the sun room collecting all kinds of cobwebs and critters coming down the chimney to get stuck in it! We have the old coal/wood stove in our tv room as an emergency back up for when the power goes out but last winter that was a joke,it kept dying on Mom while she tried to keep us warm in the below 30degree temps the house went down to! You can't even shake out the embers anymore its rusting and falling apart! I agree with you that new things are hard to get used to unless they're in a different setting!
Wishing you a great day and I'm sending you all my love along with warm birdie hugs and soft beakie kisses! Love,Dixie
