Hi, Marigold
We eggspected the squirrel to eat the sunflower. It was always intended for wildlife, however, the squirrels never used to partake of the veggie garden and very irksome that it happened this year. Some plants got a bit bug infested (some kinda tiny winged creature) so our mom didn't use that or else cooked it and let the furball have some.

It is probably easier to control the herbs when in planters to keep pests away. Our dad's planted herbs in the past, but not lately. There is still mint in the yard so that helps keep that area smelling nice. The gardenia near the front door is also a fresh scent when in bloom.

Have a great day, wing hugs, beak kisses and a vote, Pearl and Silver.
