Hi Paco
Dec. 20: Ms BBs BOTM campaign.

All of your votes are deeply appreciated. If I don’t thank you every
day its only because there is only so much time in one day.

By now every birde should know where we are going today. Yep, we are off to Saturn. The first thing you will notice is the bright rings around this gas planet.

Saturn's interior is similar to Jupiter's consisting of a rocky core, a liquid metallic hydrogen layer and a molecular hydrogen layer. Traces of various ices are also present.
Saturn was first visited by NASA's Pioneer 11 in 1979 and later by Voyager 1 and Voyager 2. Cassini, a joint NASA / ESA project, arrived on July 1, 2004 and will orbit Saturn for at least four years.

Let’s go investigate the rings. What do you see out the right side? Oh, small rocks, big rocks and something that looks like ice mixed with sand. There are 14 rings and gaps around Saturn. They are all made up of the same stuff. Any birdie want to Hula Hoop???

Saturn has18 major Moons and lots of smaller ones not named. We will fly by a couple of the big ones on our way home.

First there is Titan at 2575 km wide. It is just off our right side. It is by far the largest of Saturns Moons. This Moon was first reported and named on March 25, 1655 by a Dutch astronomer named Christiaan Huygens.
It is the only natural satellite known to have a dense atmosphere, and the only object other than Earth for which clear evidence of stable bodies of surface liquid has been found.

Over there on the left is Dione. It is 560 km wide and was first seen in 1684 by Cassini. Just a bunch of rocks floating in space.

Is every birde tuckered out from all this space travel? I am setting the navigation ‘putter to take us back home. I’m taking a nap.

Ms BB
