Hi CuBird
Mom thinks he found a great understanding home, so Casper can be himself and be happy now. You'll never guess why the woman wanted to rehome him: she bought him from a breeder who sold him unweaned. That's illegal here in PA, but she went to Ohio to get him. She never properly weaned him to a variety of foods, so he ended up just eating the brown Higgins pellets and nothing else. He still made baby noises to get fed, sometimes, too. Mom thought that was his way to get some attention, but apparently that noise was on the woman's last nerve, and that's why she got rid of him. By the way, he made that noise here one time. Mom didn't react to it, but when he tweeted, whistled, or tried to speak, she made a big fuss! He didn't repeat baby too begging noises here ever again. He was one smart cookie, for sure. Mom thinks if she could have had him, she'd also have him eating a bunch of fresh foods, too. When I came here, I wouldn't eat any fresh stuff, but I soon loved apples and grapes. Mom was worried about the fruit, but she found out that we conures eat 80%fruit in the wild, so she was ok after that. She never gave up, though, and now I eat broccoli too, and she is hopeful that some day I'll try a carrot, a piece of yam, a pea, or something. I've eaten corn and lettuce on occasion, too.
Okay, enough rambling, see you soon, have a great day! Hugs, Falco
