Boy, your Mom's stories of Philadelphia made my Mom nostalgic. Wanamakers....now how long have they been closed? At least Macy's kept the Christmas light show going, but Mom thinks they got rid of the Eagle...it's been ages since she was there, but she used to get a kick out of going up to have lunch in the Crystal Room, which used to be hoity toity, but of course wasn't by the time Mom went there...a good thing, too, or she'da never have gotten in with her jeans and all!
Mom loves PAFA...it's a gorgeous building with a lot of history behind it. Mom's been to exhibits there, and Other Mom's best friend was a student there for a while, too.
You wouldn't believe CHOP now. It's gotten so big and probably the new building came in after your Mom worked there....Mom knows some of the people there who work with Deaf children.
The Moms have vacationed in Corning a couple of times. Last time they went, they stayed in Bath and drove to Ithaca for the day to see the Cornell Ornithology lab. That was a great trip. They've also been up to Saratoga Springs and around Lake Champlain and stuff. One Mom has done the Hudson River Valley---CIA, FDR stuff, Olana (Frederick Church's Mansion). They're planning to do Niagara Falls and East Aurora as soon as they can afford it, but who knows when that will happen!
Hey! Mom just looked at a Map to see where Carrollton was, and guess what? Other Mom is in Williamsburg right now, babysitting her nephews while their parents are away! We had no idea you were so close to the shore...It's brave of you to try all those citrus trees..they'd definitely be happier in a more tropical climate! Silver and Pepper's parronts do well with them in CA, but that's a whole 'nother thing, yes? Mom does hers under grow lights from October to May, and struggles with all kinds of bugs when she brings them in. But she just saw an ad from a grocery store offering Meyer Lemons for $3 each! HA! So she figures this year she saved about $40 bucks or so....not that she woulda bought them, you understand, but it's fun having them.
Enough!! Where's the bird stuff in all this? Oh, I see...Mom mentioned an Eagle...guess that'll have to do!
Love to you and the flock!
