Hi Chet
What a great pirate pic! You look ready for an adventure. It should be lots of fun. Willie and Peppino have signed up, but I haven't. Giz will be one of the guardian angels on the voyage. Hope mom has fun while she's away.
Happy Presidents' Day! I hope you didn't get much more snow yesterday. It snowed all day long here, but we only got a couple of inches. Mom was able to clear it both yesterday and this morning. We are supposed to get a sleet/snow mix overnight, from 7pm until noon tomorrow. That will make driving a real bear for those who have to go anywhere. Mom is planning on staying right here with us, though. Meanwhile it's supposed to get into the high 40s on Thursday.
Today at the center, mom took care of the raptor mews, which had icicles on every perch and swing for the hawks and owls. Martha and all the others have perches under a protective roof though, so they weren't covered in ice. Their hide boxes were also safe from ice. Mom also cleaned in the runs. When she opened the turkey vultures' enclosure, one of them went outside and the other two came out of the cage, but stayed indoors. She ended up leaving Vince outside until later today. She had to close the door to the outside area because of the cold. There were all birds in the runs today: a gull, a red tailed hawk, the vultures, and several mallards. Oh, and there was a snapping turtle as well. Mom likes those guys, she thinks they're pretty cool. It was an interesting morning at the center.
One of the staff there recommended another vet for Polly, but she wasn't around when mom was leaving. Mom is going to text her later to see if she can give mom a number and some details. Mom is still hoping to get Polly in to someone before March 4th.
Hope you are having a good day and staying warm and dry. Hugs, Falco
