HI MANGO!!
Just stopping by with my campaign blog of the day...Pecked a V4U...Today we will talk about "Toys" for cockatiels...A number of toys marketed primarily for budgerigars are also suitable for per cockatiels, but do ensure that they are sufficiently robust. Some plastic toys have sharp projections inside that can cause injury if exposed when the toy is broken. Generally, simple toys are best.Cockatiels often appreciate a mirror and ladders are also popular. Cockatiels do not like swings as much as budgerigars do, however, and if there is space,it is better to include an extra perch rather than a swing.A ping pong ball can provide a cockatiel with useful stimulation, as the bird rolls it back and forth with its beak. When dirty, wipe the ball over with a damp piece of paper towel. Many of the more elaborate toys are difficult to clean. If you are out for long periods of time each day, leave a radio on as a source of companionship for the cockatiel. But beware your pet may soon be repeating various jingles as a result.Another option of companionship is to obtain a second cockatiel. Being naturally sociable birds, they live together quite happily in pairs, even if they are the same sex.Furthermore, there is rarely any difficulty in bringing cockatiels together, whereas cockatoos and other larger parrots may disagree violently when introduced....Have a nice day....With many birdie wing hugs......Sam :o)
