I have some kind of a bug so I didn't get to the pet store yesterday. It's probably for the best because I tend to want to take home almost every bird I see! I'm caring for Zoe right now, for two weeks while her owner goes to Japan. I have to admit it's started off prettly rocky- yesterday it was so cold she refused to pee outside (despite numerous attempts on my part) and this morning she wet on the couch. This meant that she got in BIG trouble and a bath and now I'm going to have to put her in a crate at night. She's used to it, because she's crated at home (WAY too much), but neither of us are happy about it. I had been just shutting her in the family room with the birds (and the cats have a "secret entrance" so they can visit her too). She also steals things off the coffee table when I'm gone for more than an hour (shredded a drawing and chewed my pencil sharpener yesterday). I leave her with wonderful treats to chew and lots of toys, so it's not boredom (the books insist that dogs don't feel spite, but what do they know?). We'll work it out- I put an upside-down mouse trap on the table and she sprung it, but that doesn't mean she learned her lesson! When I'm with her she's the most delighful dog- so affectionate and smart and eager to please... but the minute I turn my back she turns into a pain in the butt!
