Thanks for visiting Monty Mae and me. Good to hear that you have been doing a lot of reading/research before getting a new African Grey flock member. I love birds, parrots in particular and CAGs especially. You asked if I had any advice. I guess the first would be to find out as much as you can about the conditions the baby bird has been brought up in before you select one. A lot of 'experts' believe that the first 14 to 16 weeks of the baby birds life can have a big impact on the rest of it's live. Things to ask about would be how the bird was hand fed, is it fully weaned and how was it weaned. How was it socailised? Did the baby have the company of other birds and how much time during each day did the baby spend in human company where it was being held by or had interaction with the humans? Also, if you can, try and spend time with the baby before you select one. That way you can judge first hand how well socailised the bird is and just like with Gilbert, you will find love at first sight. Hope this helps. Come visit us again. T and MM
