Instead of silver or gold, Precious stones, pearls or gems, My jewelry is now made of hemp, It is strung with wooden beads, Shiny baubles and bells, I no longer wear clothes with famous designer names, Although my clothes do have “custom designs” And missing buttons, special holes, Pulled threads, yet I feel no shame. The vacuum is never quite for long. Since acquiring 10 fids It works many times a day for a song. There are more than just seeds in the fridge, It has a special shelf for fresh and tasty treats. Foraging involves more than finding food, Keeps the keepers searching for new ideas To keep us learning, busy and happy. This is all a small price to pay To live so near to the most elegant, Awe inspiring, colorfully iridescent, inquisitive creatures in all of nature. And be able to call them friends. It is hard to dedicate this to only one bird, So this is for all our feathered friends That are close to our hearts and Those that have yet to find that elusive “forever home” |
