I know what you mean, it's always sad when the babies go to their homes but at the same time it's kind of a relief, too. Yeah, last week was pretty strange for me and the kritters... I don't think I'll have Zoe again until April- part of me is sad, another part of me says YAY! I have to say, though, she's good for the cats. They're all getting on in age (well into their teens) and since we have three we can't get a kitten (well, I'd get one but my mom would probably kick me out!), so this young dog keeps them on their toes. I patina'd the leaf- it looks really great! I cut a primitive cat form out of brass (it's an old hobo sign meaning "kind-hearted woman")- I'm planning on making it into a pin for my mom's friend who works in a soup kitchen once a week. I don't know what I'm going to do with my silver yet- it's a good-sized piece- enough to make five big rings or a couple of bracelets, or lots of earrings... I went to open studio this morning and slipped all the little critters, they're on the shelf for firing, and glazed a pile of sad little bowls (all the same- weathered green), so hopefully next week I'll have a bunch of finished pieces. I also made that crow lamp base Monday- it will be a bedside lamp if it turns out (I hope it does!)I need to buy a lamp kit to see what size the hole needs to be. I can't wait until it's finished (everything takes so long!). This weekend I want to go into open studio again (I always plan to, but it never works out...)- I have a half a box of clay left and Monday is the last day for wetwork, so I gotta get moving! I haven't had a chance to look for a new boy yet- I've gone to that same pet store but they haven't gotten any new birds and probably won't for a while (the beautiful lovebird is gone too). They have a grass parakeet there that's so lonely- he's been there for nearly two years now (still can't afford it even though they reduced the price).
