HI Cadilac
Cadilac is a beautiful bird. I have always wanted a grey and I hope to adopt one someday. A friend of mine has a grey and she really likes me me. I visit with her a couple times a week. I bought Simon when he was three months old and started dressing him then. He never really minded it and the only time he tries to chew on the clothes or harnesses is when he has to go potty. The flightsuits have a place for a diaper{a mini pad} that soaks up droppings. Simon is potty trained and hates to go in the diaper, so he sometimes pulls at the flightsuits trying to get them off to go potty. My Macaw took a little longer to get used to clothes. I have had him about a year and a half and sometimes he still tries to chew at the clothes if I am not paying attention to him. When he is dressed, he is usually out with me, so I am always paying attention to him, so he doesnt get the chance to chew much. I got him used to wearing harnesses and clothes by at first, leaving the harness sit in front of his cage for about a week so he could see it and realize that it wasnt going to attack him. Then week two, I let him touch it. When I was holding him I would also hold the harness and rub it against him. Week three, I started to put it over his head for a couple seconds and then worked up to putting the whole thing on. I always took him outside and gave a treat after it was on. That way he associated the harness with good things. If you cant get him to wear the harness, there is a nice backpack cage called the Adventure Pack, that you wear on your back, and that would let him get outside and you can take him places in that. My friend cant get the harness on her grey and uses the backpack. I can put her harness on when I am there, but my friend would rather have her in the pack than have her sit on her shoulder. Good luck and nice meeting you. Heres a vote, Simons mom, Raven
