Ms. Scarlette
Hey everyone! Thanks for all the votes, they always make my day! I guess I should tell everyone exactly how I came about such a beautiful bird so far north. Scarlette was bought by our 2nd local pet store (it has since closed down) as a breeder. She was put with a male and the whole nine yards, but I was told from the pet store clerk that they were not doing very well. She told me that her dog got into the bird room one night and jumped at the cage and gave the bird a heart attack. When I went into the pet store and saw that she was for sale, I had to find a way to bring her home (we were not a bird home at the time) Her cage was way to small for her, and she had no toys. A friend of mine worked there, and told me that she had been keeping an eye on her. She told me that she had a very unique song, and when she brought the bird in the back she would sing while she was cleaning the cage. When I asked about her, the pet store clerk said that she was only a few years old, and she was selling her because she had to many other birds to care for. Soon after I brought her home, the store closed. She is such a good bird! She is not tame, so we have a hard time clipper her nails and getting her back into her cage after flying around my room...But she's worth it. I'm currently looking for a used flight cage for her, so that she has more room in her cage when I'm not home. She doesn't play much with her toys, so the more flying she does, the happer she is!
